Tear gas used in Egypt is forbidden

The tear gas that was used by the Egyptian police and soldiers against the population in the past 48 hours expired 5 years ago and, judging by the inscriptions on the tear gas sprays, can do damage to the liver and hear. According to the international research, the substance also known as the CR gas can cause miscarriages.

An affected person may die in a few minutes in an unventilated room.

Egyptian demonstrators have been suffering from this gas for two days and human rights defenders (Euromediterranean Human Rights Network (EMHRN)) have already called the usage of the gas “a crime against the humanity”.

According to the Chemical Weapons Convention signed in Paris in 1993, the CR gas is forbidden to use for military purposes.

The gas was used in a mobile hospital in Mohammed Mahmud Street in Cairo. It caused panic and those who were affected by the gas lost their conscience, coughed up blood and vomited.

Protesters are distributing schemes teaching how to make a tear-gas mask at home.
