Russia reveals European reexport from Belarus
The Russian Agricultural Inspectorate has revealed reexport attempts of banned European fruit and vegetables from Belarus.
ITAR-TASS has reported it referring to head of the inspectorate Sergey Dankvert. Some EU member states have started sending goods without indicating the country of origin to Belarus. “They say that it is Macedonia but the products are from Poland and Greece as there is no proof that they were produced in Macedonia,” the official claimed.
The Russian Agricultural Inspectorate has revealed apples, peaches, plums and tomatoes sent to Russia from Belarus without the indication of the country of origin. Sometimes it was said that the products were from Turkey, Serbia, Macedonia or African countries like Zimbabwe. However, there were no phytosanitary documents and it drew the Russian inspectors’ attention. It turned out that the fruit and vegetables were from Poland, Slovenia, the Netherlands, Lithuania and some other EU member states, Dankvert says.
The goods had no phytosanitary documents, he noted. The inspectorate threatens to limit supplies from Belarus if banned goods keep being delivered to Russia.
