Russian ambassador: Belarusians support Russia more than Ukraine
Aliaksandr Lukashenka’s stance differs from the one of the majority of Belarusian citizens, Russian ambassador tells journalists in Minsk.
“Belarus may have its own position (as regards the Ukrainian issue – Euroradio). It is everyone’s right… The President (of Belarus – Euroradio) has expressed his own position. He cannot say anything else because Ukraine is a neighbor… Ordinary citizens support Russia much more than Ukraine,” Russian Ambassador to Belarus Alexander Surikov told journalists.
He knows about people’s mood in Russia and in Ukraine and he did not get the information from Russian TV channels only, the Russian diplomat said. His brother lives in Ukraine now and the diplomat ‘shares impressions with him’, Surikov noted. Alexander Surikov also has relatives in Crimea.
