Snowden to go to Venezuela via Minsk?
The fugitive former CIA leaker Edward Snowden may travel to Venezuela through Belarus, according to Polish newspaper Gazeta Wyborcza.
Edward Snowden has agreed to accept the political asylum offered to him by Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro. However, the ex-CIA member’s passport has been annulled and he cannot leave the transit area of the Sheremetyevo Airport in Moscow.
Snowden asked Russia for temporary political asylum. He may get the document that will allow him leave the transit area on Monday. Then the American may leave for Belarus as there is no guarded border between the two countries.
Belarusian special services may help transport Snowden to an African state, Gazeta Wyborcza reports. Then he will be able to reach Latin America without problems. By the way, Bolivia and Nicaragua are also ready to accept Snowden.
Meanwhile, the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has claimed that Snowden has never asked our country for political asylum.
