Snowden: I have won, mission accomplished
The former National Security Agency contractor who received a temporary asylum in Russia has been interviewed by the Washington Post.
"For me, in terms of personal satisfaction, the mission's already accomplished," Edward Snowden said. "I already won. As soon as the journalists were able to work, everything that I had been trying to do was validated. Because, remember, I didn't want to change society. I wanted to give society a chance to determine if it should change itself."
Edward Snowden shared a number of secret materials connected with American and British Internet spying programmes with influential American and British newspapers in the summer of 2013. International scandals started afterwards. Snowden fled to Hong Kong at first and then moved to Moscow.
