'Social parasites' protest in Minsk - in pictures
The March of Indignant Belarusians took place on February 17 in Minsk. The unauthorized protests was organized by opposition politicians Mikalai Statkevich and Uladzimir Nyaklyayeu who had called on people to protest against the notorious president's decree No 3, also known as the 'decree on social parasites'.
Unexpectedly for many, hundreds of people from various cities in Belaruw took to the central square in Minsk. Observer estomated between 1500 and 3000 people participated in the rally.
Protesters gathered in Kastrycnickaja Square and then marched through the city center to the Ministry of Taxes. The action lasted for one hour ad fifteen minutes.
According to reports, after the action ended the police attempted to defend several anarchists who were active during the protest but did not succeed.
