Government mulls tough measures for shops over empty shelves
Minskers assaulted home appliances shops on December 19, leaving behind empty shelves amid the currency crisis.
The Belarusian Ministry of Trade that closed 21 Megatop shops on December 19 is going to check major home appliances shops, the Ministry told Euroradio.
Ministry of Trade: “If the shops do not fill their shelves, we will check them and take strict measures.”
Belarusians rushed to buy home appliances when the National Bank announced its decision to introduce a 30% fee for foreign currency purchases on December 19. Such shops as Elektrosila and Korona-Techno experienced an incredible inrush of customers.
