Russian tennis star Maria Sharapova planned to keep a new surname to promote her candy brand during the upcoming US Open.
Shugarpova is the name of the sweets company that the tennis player founded last year. About two million packs of sweets have been sold under the brand in the US, Europe and Asia in a year.
According to ВВС, the Russian tennis player's agent Max Eisenbud has said that the temporary change of name requires a too complicated legal procedure. 26-year-old Maria Sharapova would have to change all her documents while she is expected to travel to Japan and China. Thus, the Russian decided against the unexpected idea.
