U.S Congress urges Obama to give weapons to Ukraine
Otherwise, there will be no response to the Russian aggression, Speaker of the United States House of Representatives John Boehner said.
The U.S. House of Representatives has approved the resolution that urges Barack Obama to send lethal assistance to Ukraine. 348 MPs have voted pro and 48 - contra. Both republicans and democrats voted for sending weapons to Ukraine, BBC reports.
“The House of Representatives supports the idea of sending military assistance to help settle the crisis in Ukraine. Otherwise, there will be no response to the Russian aggression,” John Boehner claimed.
Washington was considering the possibility of lethal military assistance to Ukraine earlier. However, it was decided to wait for the ceasefire results. The White House kept refusing to send lethal and non-lethal military assistance to Ukraine for a long time. There could be no military solution to the crisis in Ukraine, the U.S. Department of State used to claim.
Americans have already supplied Ukraine with bullet-proof vests, means of communication, packed meals and medical instruments. However, the Ukrainian government had hoped to get lethal weapons.
The President has not decided yet whether to send lethal weapons to Ukraine, Obama's circle reports.
