Youth in Grodna act to defend old bridge
The ancient city's bridge will survive! That was the name of the action staged by the local youth groupes to defend the Old Town area of the city. The 20-minutes flash-mob took place on the 100-year-old Old Bridge, which is to be demolished under a reconstruction plan. Around thirty youth activists walked on the bridge, leaving red bands behind.
Afterwards, the red bands were used to write the "Don't destroy Grodna!" poster.
According to organizers, the red color was a symbol of life and struggle, i.e. the struggle of the public for preserving the old town areas and the bridge in particular. The struggle is not over, they said.
The action is only the first one among a series of events designed to defend the old part of the city, our correspondent Zmicier Cvikievic reports from Grodna.
