100-year-old chapel on fire near Polatsk (photo)
The 100-year-old chapel at the cemetery in the village of Myshchana, Polatsk ditrict caught fire around midnight on May 6. The building is on the country's historic heritage list.
Passers-by who accidentally happened to be at the cemetery and saw smoke over the chapel called fire-fighters. Rescurers put out the fire within several minutes.
The brick building was not damaged. Rescueres suggest that a lit candle was left by somone on the self-made timber table inside the chapel.
