2017 results: Exports exceed imports in Belarus

In 2017, Belarus' export of goods and services increased by 21.7% or $36.435 million against 2016. The trade surplus totalled $63.2 million (-70.6 millions in 2016). It means that exports exceeded imports, tut.by reports quoting the National Bank of Belarus.
According to experts, higher prices for goods was the key factor behind the increase in exports. The average export prices grew 14.9% (the volume of exports increased by 6.7%) in January-October 2017. Energy resources accounted for 20.5% of the volume. The percentage of investment goods increased from 10.4% to 11.6%. The share of consumer products dropped from 24.9% to 24%.
