Activists’ main camp liquidated in Hong Kong

Activists’ barricades are being destroyed in Hong Kong. Students who wanted democracy have been protesting there for two months. The police are waiting for orders and are ready to clear the roads blocked by protesters, BBC reports.

The last barricades will be demolished on Thursday morning, Hong Kong authorities announced earlier. The number of protesters has already decreased to a few hundreds. Dozens of thousands of people demanded a free election there in September.

The protesters are against Beijing’s refusal to hold a democratic election in Hong Kong in 2017.
