Alert unit of Russian fighter aircraft planes SU-27 arrives to Belarus
Four planes landed at the airdrome of the 61st fighter airbase in Baranavichy.
Technical crew also arrived to Baranavichy from Russia, BelaPAN informs.
Euroradio reminds, this April Russia's Minister of Defense Sergei Shoigu informed in Minsk that Russia wants to place a fighter aircraft wing at the territory of Belarus by 2015. He said then that an aviation command post was planned to be set up in Belarus this year, including putting the first alert unit of fighter aircraft planes.
On June 26 it became known that the Russian air base would be located in Lida, Hrodna region and would start functioning in 2013. Modified fighter aircraft planes SU-27CM3 will be placed there.
Later, there appeared information about placing at least an alert unit of fighter aircraft planes in Baranavichy.
