Alina Talai: Belarusian language will be gaining popularity
Famous Belarusian athlete Alina Talai has described the role of the Belarusian language in her life in an interview with Pressball. “There are friends and acquaintances who speak Belarusian and we have correspondence in Belarusian. We also speak Belarusian when we meet,” the sportswoman said. She is reading many books in Belarusian. For example, Talai read Victar Martsinovich’s latest book in one day and re-read Uladzimir Karatkevich not long ago.
"I am proud of my country’s history but I am better at literature(laughs). However, I am reading history books and monographs too,” the athlete said. There is a positive tendency to preserve the Belarusian language in our society, Alina Talai thinks. “The popularity of Belarusian will be increasing every year,” she believes.
Alina Talai and cultic TV-presenter Yury Zhyhamont organized lessons of Belarusian in a Pinsk school. See Nasha Niva’s video for more information.
