Milinkevich: Idolization of post-election protests turned out a mistake
Aliaksandr Milinkevich, leader of Movement for Freedom, reckons the opposition first needs a strategy to attract the electorate and then a leader.
Milinkevich has said in an interview to the Interfax-West agency: "It is time to give up the false messages like Square and single candidate will decide the destiny of Belarus. Idolization of the Square turned out a mistake."
The politician has noted that the opposition first needs to solve the issues, then to choose a strategy which would lead to victory and only after that choose a single candidate.
He is also convinced that the opposition should look for allies among the representatives of the authorities: "We need to realize that the opposition will never be able to replace the whole authoritative system. No country has ever had that. A considerable part of the authorities ill stay the same, as the managing experience is necessary. However, we need to find the people who understand that the country should develop freely."
In the opinion of the opposition politician, a single candidate from the opposition at the upcoming presidential election should be a director of a successful enterprise, or a minister, or a city mayor.
