A.Mіlіnkevіch: Search in our office is a serous political provocation
Minsk office of the leader of the movement “For Freedom” Alyaksandr Milinkevich has been “inventoried” or simply searched today, on the evening of November 18. The politician calls the action a provocation of the authorities’ “power” clan. According to Milinkevich, officers of the court (guarded by policemen) arrived in the flat and started inventorying the property. The reason for it was that fact that a man involved in a criminal case had lived there 10 years before. Officers of the court wanted to find his belongings in the flat to confiscate them for the good of the state. In reality, it was opposition memebrs’ property being inventoried.
This is how Alyaksandr Milinkevich commented on the search in an interview with ERB:
"In my opinion, it is absolute nonsense, a groundless action, a serious political provocation. It was prepared by those who do not want Belarus to improve its relations with the European Union, the USA and the democratic world. They would like to build another Berlin Wall between Belarus and the European Union. These people do not want to see any steps performed to liberalize the life in Belarus”.
