A businessman Andrei Bandarenka has been sentenced to six years of imprisonment and confiscation of property. According to the UDF website, he will serve his sentence in a high security colony.
The sentence was pronounced by a judge of Pershamaiski District Court of Minsk Tatstsyana Ravinskaya. The decision has not come into power yet and can be appealed within ten days.
Let us remind you that Bandarenka was accused of taking possession of property with the help of trickery and breach of trust which means a serious fraud. As ERB informed, he was sentenced to 7 years of imprisonment for stealing property with the help of power abuse at first. However, the sentence was cancelled later and the case was reconsidered.
The entrepreneur thinks the prosecution is a kind of revenge for his participation in the parliamentary election campaign in 2008 and is going to appeal the court’s decision.
