Attempt on Benedict's XVI life prevented in Great Britain

London police arrested 5 people suspected in conspiracy aiming at attempt on Pope Benedict's XVI life. Policemen stated the information about the conspiracy had been confirmed during investigation. All the arrested are not British citizens, informs ВВС.

It is not the first time when the leaders of the Catholic Church become subjects of attempts on their lives. The most notorious attempt happened in 1981 at the St.Peter's Square in Rome. Then a member of Turkish ultra-right group took a shot at John Paul II and injured him. Several years later the Pope visited the criminal and told him he had forgiven him the attempt on his life.
