Obama reveals when Russia sanctions may be lifted
The U.S. President has made a speech at the opening of the 69th Session of the UN General Assembly.
"The USA will lift the sanctions if Russia follows the way of peace and diplomacy,” RBK quotes Obama.
He touched upon various world threats in his 40-minute speech. In particular, Obama claimed that the struggle with terrorists in Iraq would continue. He urged the other states to support the fight against terrorists in Iraq and Syria.
Obama also addressed the Iranian authorities and claimed that it was possible to reach an agreement on the Iranian nuclear programme. There is tension in the Middle East and on the Pacific Rim, he noted. The U.S. President also urged the states to make certain steps to help combat the Ebola virus disease outbreak in West Africa.
