Belarus to build nuclear power plant to Gorki district

The Belarusian nuclear power plant is most likely to be constructed in the Gorki district. The Kukshynava site can be picked as the most suitable location for the station, Mikhail Myasnikovich, the chairman of the National Academy of Sciences told reporters.
Meanwhile, local residents are continuing to gather signatures against the nuclear power plant. Activists have already collected nearly 2000 signatures. 1000 signatures were passed through MP Tatsyana Asmalouskaya to the government which is expected to answer within several days.

Activist Eduard Brokarau told the European Radio for Belarus about the attitude of local residents towards the nuclear project:

"Folks say that the government will do whatever it wants. They know our Belarusian realities.
Most of the people are aganst. Some express their attitude in a harsh way by saying that they'd better built the station in Minsk in front of the president's residence..."

The Council of Ministers, Belarus's cabinet, is expected to make the final decision on the location of the nuclear power plant.
