Belarus steps up radiation monitoring after explosion at France's nuclear site
Belarus has enhanced radiation monitoring after the explosion at France's Flamanville nuclear power plant, the press office of the Ministry of Nature and Environmental Protection reports.
A fire led to a blast at the Flamanville nuclear power plant in northwestern France, according to media reports on February 9. Local officials said there was no nuclear risk.
Belarusian specialists have analyzed the possibility of disintegration products spreading in case they are emitted. On February 9-12, analysis of air masses are being made at the height of 500, 1500 and 3000 metres, taking into account the acutal weather conditions and forecasts. Based on these analysis, disintegration products will spread towards the Atlantic Ocean. There is no threat to Belarus.
"The radiation situation is stable in Belarus. The average radiation level has not increased,” the Ministry of Nature reports.
