Belarus fails to get Russian gas discount
Minsk and Moscow have failed to agree on a Russian gas discount for Belarus, the TASS ageency learned on January 13 from the Russian Deputy Energy Minister Anatoly Yanovsky.
The talks about discounts on the gas price were conducted by Deputy Prime Ministers of Russia and Belarus Uladzimir Syamashka and Arkady Dvorkovich. "We have not agreed on it, the date of the new meeting was not set," Yanovski summarized the results of the negotiations.
He added that during the negotiations the discount discussed was no longer 10 percent. The officials discussed the absolute numbers, not percentages.
At the end of 2015, Uladzimir Syamashka said that he saw grounds for a substantial reduction in prices for Russian gas from the New Year. At the end of 2015, the Russian gas was supplied to Belarus at the price of 142 dollars 37 cents per thousand cubic meters.
