Belarus looks to build nuclear plant at Lithuanian border

The sites in the Mahiliow region are the most perspective for the construction of the nuclear power plant in Belarus, Uladzimir Tsimashpolski, the deputy chairman of the National Academy of Sciences said in a statement.
The 90-percent priority is currently being given to a site in the Mahiliow region, he said. Tsimashpolski admitted that construction costs at the site in the Mahiliow region would be higher than expected due to the low quality of soil.

However, the Belarusian nuclear power plant could also be built near the border with Lithuania, where a site is currently being studied, reports Interfax.
