Belarus offers Mazyr refinery to Russia's Rosneft
Belarus' crude oil refinery in Mazyr is offered to the Russian oil company Rosneft on condition of increased production output.
Belarus Deputy Prime Minister Pyotr Prakapovich announced the news today speaking at the joint session of the two chambers of the National Assembly. According to Prakapovich, Belarus has proposed Rosneft to increase the oil processing volume up to 20 million tons per year by 2020 as one of the conditions for privatization of the refinery in Mazyr, interfax.by reports.
"This means processing here in Belarus part of the crude oil that is currently transported to western Europe," Prakapovich stressed. He explained that petrochemical products would be sold on the internal market of the Customs Union to be treated as import substitution and sold abroad.
In the opinion of Prakapovich, Russian partners are expected to take the decision within one month. Under his estimates, the economic effect will amount to $4 billion in case of project's realization.
