Belarus refuses to hand out Jehovah's Witnesses follower to Russia
Nikolai Makhalichev
The General Prosecutor's Office of Belarus on 7 April refused to hand out Nikolai Makhalichev to Russia, Belarusian human rights organization Human Constanta wrote on Facebook.
Russia wants Mikhalichev because he is a follower of Jehovah's Witnesses, a religious group banned as a terrorist organization in Russia. In Belarus, Jehovah's Witnesses are officially registered and operate legally.
The Russian was released after spending 40 days behind bars in Belarus.
