Belarusian authorities want rent paid in rubles not foreign currency
Additionally, the rent in rubles may be annually adjusted to the consumer price index of the previous year.
The State Property Committee plans to unbind rent payments from foreign currency. As BelaPAN reports, the corresponding amendments are prepared in the Decree 150 of March 29, 2012 'On some issues of lease and free use of property'.
The new document aims to de-dollarize renting of private immovable property. The draft of the decree states that the payment for the privately owned rental real estate can be set only in rubles or in the base rental units. Exceptions are the property of business entities in which the state owns more than 50% of the shares.
At the same time, the rent determined in Belarusian rubles, may be annually adjusted on April 1 to the consumer price index for the past year compared to the year before that.
