Belarusian border guards detain STV journalists
A TV crew from the state-owned TV channel STV was for two hours detained by Belarusian border guards near the border with Lithuania.
STV decided to conduct an experiment at the Belarusian-Lithuanian border to find out if local inhabitants were willing to help frontier guards find illegal migrants. However, the journalists did not report their intentions to frontier guards, BelaPAN informs.
The journalists used a hidden camera to conduct the experiment. Alyaksandr Lukashenka mentioned the necessity of cooperation between local inhabitants and frontier guards last week.
An STV journalist with a large bag came to ask villagers about the way to reach the Lithuanian border. Frontier guards detained her at that moment.
The detained journalists were delivered to a border check-point. The preventive conversation with the journalists took about two hours.
