Belarusian hockey players get defeated by Czechs and will not get to quarter final
Our national hockey team has lost the opportunity of reaching its goal #1 – getting in the top-8 at the World Championship in Canada. Kurt Freiser’s team was defeated by Czechs in the second match of the second round on May 10.
The overtime and the match ended in a draw – 2:2. Yaraslau Chuprys opened the scoring after Ruslan Salei and Dzmitry Myaleshka’s passes. Tomash Ralinek restored the balance in the second period having scored a goal with his foot.
The judges decided that he had not done it deliberately. Andrei Kastsitsyn scored one more goal in the middle of the third period but a Czech Alesh Katalik tied in 3 minutes 48 seconds.
All the goals were scored when both teams were full. The last series was won by Czechs – 2:1.
The Belarusian team will play its last match with the Danish team on the night of May 13.
