Belarusian swimmer Aliaksandra Herasimenia announces retirement

Swimmer Aliaksandra Herasimenia, 33 has announced retirement from professional sport, Belarusian sports website Pressball reports. Her best achievements were two silver medals in the 50 and 100-meter freestyle events at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London, a bronze in the 50-meter freestyle event at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio. Aliaksandra fell short of achieving her dream to become an Olympic champion.
Aliaksandra Herasimenia is an honorable master of sport in Belarus, a two-time world champion and European champion. On the occasion of ending her sporting career, there is no plan to throw a farewell party.
