Brest Fortress becomes cigarette smuggling centre
Smugglers load themselves with goods on the territory of Brest Fortress. Cigarette smugglers do not try to hide, leave garbage and empty cigarette boxes behind them. ERB has found out that they pay one dollar to transport one pack of cigarettes. Brest fortress is situated on the Belarusian-Polish border. It is only forbidden to enter the citadel. However, there are several roads on the territory.
The August issue of “Custom House” newspaper informs: 20 million cigarettes have been detained since January. Protocols against 42 customs officers (there were 36 last year) who accepted bribes have been drawn up.
