Carrier agents do not come to protest action in Independence Square
They wanted to record a video appeal to the Belarusian President. However, the action organizer, businessman Sergei Shtoda, was detained yesterday.
The action of carrier agents appointed for February 4 has not been held near the Government House in Minsk. They reckon that the authorities introduced the BellToll system without the necessary preparation and made private carrier agents lose dozens of thousands of euro. They wanted to a record a video appeal to Alyaksandr Lukashenka because they were sure that he could change the situation.
However, organizer Sergei Shtoda was arrested yesterday. He went to negotiate with vice PM Vasil Matsyusheuski to solve the problem on Tuesday. And he disappeared. It turned out that he had been jailed for 15 days for ‘swearing’.
The action was cancelled after ‘the neutralizing’ of Shtoda. The Independence Square was encircled by the police anyway on the morning of February 4. Police buses were noticed near the Government House. However, no carrier agents came.
The system of toll roads BelToll was introduced in Belarus in August 2013. Many people did not know who to use it at first. A huge number of violations were registered in the first month.
