Catherine Ashton to meet government and opposition in Kiev
Vice-President of the European Commission will stay in Kiev on February 4 and 5.
Catherine Ashton will meet the authorities, opposition and civil society, official EC representative Olivier Bai said. She will try to help discussing the EU’s assistance in finding a political way out of the crisis, RIA Novosti reports.
The Ukrainian government refused to sign an association agreement with the EU right before the Eastern Partnership summit in Vilnius in November 2013. Protest actions started in Ukraine and Maidan Nezalezhnosti in Kiev is their centre. The protesters managed to make PM Mykola Azarov resign and demand the same from President Victor Yanukovich.
