Chernobyl Way organizers to collect money for sick children during rally
The street action is traditionally held on April 26, the day of 1986 tragic nuclear accident in Chernobyl.
The organizers have gathered a press-conference on Tuesday in Minsk.
They have announced that
this year they are going to collect donations for cancer-affected children during the Chernobyl Way action. The collected money will be passed
to one of the hospitals.
They have also announced that the opposition leaders plan a trip to Homel
region, home to the areas that suffered the most from the Chernobyl nuclear contamination fallout on
the anniversary of the disaster.
An application for a permit to stage the Chernobyl Way action was filed with Minsk City Hall by representatives of Movement for Freedom, United Civil Party (UCP), organizing committee of Belarusian Christian Democracy party, Belarusian Popular Front, Belarusian Social-Democratic Party (Hramada) and civil organization EcoHome.
