Coffee markup in Minsk restaurants is 1500%
The State Control Committee has revealed it during a check-up.
The incredible size of markups in Minsk restaurants scares clients away and hinders the development of the sector, officials think.
The check-up was conducted before the World Ice Hockey Championship, Yezhednevnik reports. The markup for dishes reaches 1050% in some restaurants. Even the markup for dinners reaches 450% although dinners should be as affordable as possible. The biggest markup was for coffee – 1500%!
That is why an average Belarusian spends up to 2.2% of all the expenses on eating out, the SCC notes. Compare it with Spain (14.8%), Germany (11.8%) and Austria (7.9%). Even Russians spend 3.3% of their expenses on eating out.
