Council of Republic passes amendments in law on political parties
The upper house of Belarusian parliament, the Council of the Republic, has passed the amendments in the law on political parties and NGOs.
The bill was previously passed by the lower chamber, the House of Representatives, on October 2.
The document divides the grounds for suspending the state registration and for refusal thereof for political parties and civil organizations. However, this doesn't mean the parties cannot file the corrected documents repeatedly. In order to create and act as a branch of an international civil organization, founded at the territory of a foreign state, it is necessary to involve no less than 10 founders from Belarus.
The regulations on liquidation of political parties, civil associations and unions, have also been amended. In particular, the document prescribes that an NGO that get liquidated cannot perform financial operations on their accounts, BelaPAN informs.
