Court suspends eviction ruling for New Life church
The health condition of Father Viachaslau Hancharenka is slightly improving to stable after micro stroke.
The Minsk Economic Court on June 14 moved to suspend its previous decision that ordered the protestant church New Life to vacate the premises in the building at Kavaliova Street 72 by June 20, Belapan news agency reports quoting New Life's lawyer Siarhei Lukanin.
The church's pastor, Viachaslau Hancharenka, on June 13 was admitted to a local hospital before the court ruling. Medical checks revealed a stroke and a non-operable thromb in a brain vessel.
Mr Lukanin says sight and speech have returned to the pastor.He is able to move around the room independently, yet he still remains in an intensive care unit. Doctors plan to remove the thromb chemically with the help of special medications.
Euroradio reminds that the New Life parish has been in court battle over their building since 2005. In 2006 they event went on a fasting hunger strike in protest against the eviction ruling.
