Donetsk: 1 million ballots for independence referendum destroyed
Unknown men destroy ballot papers designed for independence referendum planned by pro-Russian separatists in eastern Ukraine.
The incident occurred in the night of May 8. The assaulters broke into two local printing houses and destroyed over a million ballots, UNN reports. The ballots had been ordered by separatists for the federalization referendum scheduled for May 11. The attackers also damaged the printing presses.
Witnesses say the attackers were wearing black and yellow bands with the symbols of Right Sector.
Russian President Vladimir Putin on May 7 called to put off the referendum in south-eastern Ukraine.
