Domracheva not to carry Belarus flag in Sochi (video)
Biathlon star Darya Domracheva will not carry Team Belarus at the Olympic Games opening ceremony in Sochi over tight training schedule.
The leader of the national women’s biathlete team told it to Russia-2.
She was offered to carry the national flag and it was a great honour for her, Domracheva noted. However, the biathlete refused because she had not planned to take part in the opening ceremony anyway. “We have an official training session the next day and the race will start a day later,” by.tribuna.com quotes Domracheva.
The first and only winter Olympics medal winner, freestyle skier Alyaksei Hryshyn, will carry the Belarusian flag at the opening ceremony. The decision was made by President and head of the National Olympic Committee Alyaksandr Lukashenka.
