Belarus will not pay its annual contribution to the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) because of sanctions imposed on Belarusian banks. This was stated by the Minister of Sport and Tourism Siarhey Kavalchuk at the international anti-doping forum "Clean Sport Without Borders".

"There are sanctions in the banking sector that do not allow the payment of contributions to the World Anti-Doping Agency," TASS quoted him as saying.

Deputy Minister Aliaksandr Baravulya also spoke of the technical difficulties, "How to transfer if there are sanctions on banks?"

According to the World Anti-Doping Agency, Belarus had to pay $46,032 to WADA last year and $49,340 this year.
