Education committee receives three (!) proposals on language law
Three proposals only have arrived at the House of Representatives' Committee on Education, Culture, Science and Technical Progress regarding the draft law on the Belarusian language spelling and punctuation rules, Committee Chairman Uladzimir Zdanovich told the European Radio for Belarus. "We really expected that our committee would filled with letters and proposals. We have received just three letters since the draft law text was posted on the web site of the Ministry of Education. Some of them are good, while one made me laugh".
Zdanovich says that a certain NGO which deals with language issues has proposed to subsribe to its newspaper and requested to print out and send the draft to them.
The draft legislation has already been copied and handed out to lawmakers. Zdanovich believes that on September 26 his committee will have a working meeting in order to include officially the draft legislation on language rules to the agenda of the October session of the lower house of parliament.
