The Supreme Court pronounced the sentence to the member of the Council of the Republic and head of Vitsebsk poultry factory on June 10. She was returned guilty of power abuse and sentenced to 2.5 years of imprisonment. However, the term she had spent in jail and an amnesty were taken into account and she was let off.

She does not bear a grudge against anyone and will get back to work if she is allowed to, ‘the senator’ told journalists after the release.

"It was just a mistake made by the system,” Hanna Shareika said after the release.

“I am a state person no matter what. I understand that the state wants everything to be put in order. They were putting it in order. It is impossible to deceive our authorities. They will check everything anyway and will see everything… I cannot blame anyone.”
