Entrepreneur ends up in hospital after police interrogation
Mikalai Charnavus was detained in Baranavichy on July 2 after he had visited the City Hall and talked to journalists.
Charnavus was taken to the Baranavichy City Police Department where Major Aliaksae Hetman, the officer in charge of public order protection and crime prevention unit, began to file the administrative offence charges against the activist for staging an unauthorized mass event. Mikalai Charnavus on July 1 organized a rally of self-employed entrepreneurs at the city's market and at the grand hall of the city administration.
It took the police five hours to file the charges. In the course of interrogation, the entrepreneur felt sick and asked for medical assistance but Major Aliaksei Hetman refused to call an ambulance.
As a result, the activist was rushed to a local hospital right from the police headquarters. He was admitted and is now being guarded by two police officers that are permanently present in the ward, reports Human Rights Center Viasna
