Femen: We have brought toilet paper and toothbrushes to court
The Ukrainian feminists will stand trial for “Night against Lukashenka” at 2 p.m.
The girls do not expect to be fined or acquitted. They have prepared for 15 days in jail. Femen leader Ganna Gutsol told Euroradio:
“It is connected with Lukashenka and he is very quick to take offence. Moreover, they have started hugging and kissing with our President and he may ask the President “to affect” the hearing. That is why we have prepared and brought toilet paper, toothbrushes and toothpaste to court… We are ready for the trial!”
Despite the fact that the Femen activists are accused of petty hooliganism, the sextremists will consider the sentence to be political. Until their topless action did not interfere into politics, nobody tried to fine them, Ganna Gutsol said. However, as soon as “they touched politics with their breasts”, they started fining and jailing them.
The girls approached the place where Belarusian President Alyaksandr Lukashenka was staying for the night during his official visit to Kiev. The mottoes “Live Belarus!”, “Fuck dictator” and others were written on their bodies, the movement website reports. However, the police and Berkut special troops protected the Belarusian President’s peace.
