First club soiree “Belarus and Belarusians” takes place in Tallinn
The first club soiree “Belarus and Belarusians” took place in Tallinn on February 7. The event was organized by a Belarusian-Estonian civil organization Valgevene Uus Tee for ethnic Belarusians living in Estonia and for everyone interested in Belarus.
Participants of the event discussed such topics as “Belarus as a territorial state created throughout the history”, “Why don’t Belarusians speak their mother tongue? What is Belarusian culture?” and “The democratic tradition in Belarus”. A Belarusian writer Uladzimir Arlou and an Estonian historian Yury Adams were invited to the soiree.
BelaPAN notes that the event attracted the attention of Belarusians and the Estonian press. Belarusian club soirees will take place in Estonian cities - Talinn, Yihvi, Silamyae and Narva where a lot of Belarusians live - at least once a month.
