Lukashenka appoints Yakabson as chief inspector in Minsk
The former head of State Control Committee becomes a presidential aide to oversee financial controls in the capital city.
Prior to the new appointment, Lukashenka met with Yakabson personally, which rarely happens. "I'm doing it on purpose, so people would not think that Yakabson has problems with the president or the government," BELTA agency quotes the head of the state as saying.
The decree dismissing Yakabson as chairman of the State Control Committee in connection with his transfer to another job was signed on August 18. Alyaksandr Yakabson headed the State Control Committee for more than three and a half years. Now one of the most influential structures will be headed by his deputy, Leanid Anfimau who was appointed acting head of the SCC.
