Former Vice-President of European Commission:EU wants dialogue with Belarus
Günter Verheugen has said this during the presentation of the educational program for young leaders from Eastern Europe in Minsk.
Günter Verheugen: "Everybody in the European Union wants to achieve constructive dialogue with Belarus. The European Union is also interested in Belarus' independence and no one is going to attempt at its sovereignty".
Professor Verheugen used to be a European Commissioner for Enterprise and Industry and the Vice-President of the European Commission before 2010. Now he is a director of the college named after Carl Friedrich Goerdeler.
We remind that the European Union demands release of political prisoners and their rehabilitation from the Belarusian authorities in the first place. This is one of the key conditions of the dialogue revival.
