Gazprom: gas export income to decrease by 40% this year
The Russian natural gas monopoly Gazprom expects the gas export income to decrease by 40% due to a drop of demand in Europe in 2009. The deputy head of the concern Alexander Medvedev informed about it at a press conference on June 24. He also stressed that “Gazprom” would not change its pricing policy despite the worse market opportunities.
The gas price for Middle and Eastern Europe exceeded 280 dollars for 100 cubic metres last year and the average price for European consumers reached 500 dollars.
“We see no reason for panic and pessimism,” Gazprom vice chairman said.
