Gazprom tower construction in Minsk frozen over foundation defects - reports
The construction of the Gazprom Center tower in lieu of the demolished Maskouski Bus Terminal in Minsk was suspended after defects detected in the foundation make it impossible to build a high-rise, reports the online newspaper Ezhednevnik. However, the official explanation from Gazprom called the lack of funding as the reason behind the freeze.
Anonymous sources claimed the poles in the foundation that carry the weight had defects. Moreoever, the building is being constructed on unstable ground.
Key architecture and construction experts from Belarus and Russia were called in to deal with the problem.
