Germans sold cars for utilization to Eastern Europe
The German factories that utilized old cars at the cost of the state were accused of swindling, reports Lenta.ru quoting Spiegel magazine.
The cars, set for destruction, were sold as the whole vehicles or as spare parts to the countries of Eastern Europe and Africa.
Cars are utilized at the cost of the state in Germany since February. Every German citizen who disposes of a car that is older than 9 years and purchases a new more environment-friendly car gets from the government a bonus of 2500 euros.
The program was used by nearly 500,000 people. According to Spiegel, up to 10 percent of the old vehicles were sent abroad.
But German experts maintain that the government is helpless from the legal point of view, because there is no liability for such violations in the German laws.
